Michael Zavros (b. 1974) is a prominent Australian artist celebrated for his hyperrealistic paintings that explore themes of beauty, luxury, and identity. A graduate of Queensland College of Art in 1996,
Zavros has garnered numerous accolades, including the Doug Moran
National Portrait Prize
(2010), the inaugural Bulgari Art Award (2012), and the Mosman Art Prize (2016).His meticulous works, often resembling photographs, delve into contemporary culture's fascination with opulence and perfection.
Zavros's art has been exhibited internationally, with solo shows at venues like Art Basel Hong Kong and the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane. Notably, his portrait "Pistol Grip" of Victoria Cross recipient Ben Roberts-Smith is held by the Australian War Memorial.
