Saren Dobkins, born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1963, is a contemporary artist living and working in Noosa, Queensland. Her practice is rooted in intuition, employing minimalist forms and expressive brushwork to create poignant and relevant narratives.

Through her art, Dobkins uses metaphors as a dynamic tool to explore philosophical and ironic themes.Working primarily with oil paint and memory, her figures are androgynous, dynamic, and "unreal," utilising colour to evoke emotion and tone to craft structured yet fluid spaces. Influenced by Giotto, Picasso, and Francis Bacon, Dobkins constructs visual compositions that blend geometry with expressive fluidity.

Her work seeks to examine the tension between the inner, emotional world and the external societal demands. By navigating this universal human conflict, Dobkins creates pieces that resonate deeply, inviting reflection and engagement with the layers of meaning woven into her art.
