Artist Statement | Daren Beaumont
Daren Beaumont's passion for nature and the outdoors began during his childhood growing up in Papua New Guinea, where a fascination with the natural world first inspired him to pick up a camera while photographing for his high school yearbook.
During his career as a scuba diving instructor, Daren developed a deep connection with the underwater environment and pursued formal studies in underwater photography at the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in California, studying under internationally renowned nature photographer Ralph Clevenger.
Influenced by the work of National Geographic photographers, underwater photography pioneers David Doubilet and Ernie Brooks, and acclaimed nature photographer Art Wolfe, Daren has spent decades exploring and documenting the beauty, diversity and wonder of the natural world.
His photographic journey has taken him to remarkable locations across Australia and around the globe, capturing everything from intimate underwater encounters and wildlife behaviour to dramatic landscapes and remote destinations.
Today, Daren calls the Sunshine Coast home, where he continues to pursue his passion for photography through hiking, mountain climbing, scuba diving and travel.
